Applicant must submit the required documents of proof at the interview for the Apprenticeship Program. Failure to provide the Apprenticeship Committee with the required proofs will result in the applicant being ineligible. Diploma/G.E.D., DD214 (Military), Motor Vehicle Picture ID.

Please Note: Members applying for Local 1163 must take a qualifying math test. Members applying for Local 443 must bring three references to their interview as well as their work history if not submitted on the application.

Millwright Tasks: Follow established safety rules and regulations, maintaining a safe and clean environment. Reading of the blueprints and schematics to determine work procedures using hand and power tools. Construction, leveling, aligning, installation, maintenance, diagnosis and repair of complex machinery and equipment such as compressors, pumps, conveyors, gas, nuclear, and steam turbines, monorail and process equipment. Millwrights can be found performing these mission critical tasks in coal, gas, nuclear and alternative-energy power plants as well as the diverse industries of automotive, aerospace, food processing, lumber, pulp and paper, material handling, mining, petrochemical, steel and alloys, pharmaceuticals and mechanical construction.

Millwright Abilities: To work on scaffolds and in confined spaces, working within precise limits or standards of accuracy. To use logical step-by-step procedures in work; planning, problem solving and decision making. To work under conditions of inclement weather; rain, snow, cold, heat and direct sunlight. To perform repetitive motions; climb and work from heights; lift items over a set weight (50 lbs.); stand and stoop for prolonged periods of time. To work with a wide array of precision tools, such as vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, levels, gauge blocks, and optical laser alignment tooling.
